Reading Reflection No. 3

The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users
by Guy Kawasaki

1. The general theme of this book is that how you conduct and manage your business' social media can play a major role in the success or failure that you end up experiencing.

2. This book enhanced my learning in ENT3003 by giving more insights into the importance of social media when it comes to business. As a marketing major, I found that this book aligned with my interests and career path perfectly.

3. An exercise for this class could be to create an Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook page for their entrepreneurial product idea. The accounts are easy and free to make and can be used as a way to practice marketing their product. They could then have their accounts peer reviewed by classmates to receive critique on how effective their use of social media is.

4. My biggest ‘aha’ moment when reading the book was the insight that even how you manage your personal social media can sway your success or failure in business. Keeping a clean, professional social media presence is the only way to go, since any questionable content can be used against you by competitors or sway customers who come across your page away from your company naturally.

  1. Hey Katherine,
I agree that social media is a huge part of a business’s success. Your idea involves changing the world for the better. You want people to get behind your idea, social media can ensure that. You are the force behind your idea, so keeping your personal social media professional will show that you are committed to the morals that your firm stands for.
